WSLEA
Membership is for and about the citizens
and the communities its members serve and
are a part of. To further assist the citizenry,
WSLEA has created and supports an extensive
set of youth programs.
WSLEA firmly believes that our future is
with the youth of our state. The Association
acts on that belief by actively supporting
-- through participation and assistance
-- the following statewide youth programs.

Youth Programs

Essay
Contest
WSLEA
is pleased to offer this program to all
eighth grade students. Schools throughout
Washington have been divided into six different
districts. Within each district the essays
are reviewed to find a first, second and
third place winner. Each district first
place winner is then reviewed for the overall
state winner distinction. State first place
winner receives $500; district first place
winners receive $200; district second place
winners receive $150; and district third
place winners receive $100. The essay theme
is centered on "Why I Will Say No To
Drugs And Alcohol." Click

Strategies
For Youth Program
Strategies
For Youth is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization
established in 1989 to education young adults
6th-12th grade on the drastic effects of
drug and alcohol use and motivate them to
play an active role in solving this destructive
problem. The program is titled "A Rock'n
Roll Tribute To Youth In America" and
has been presented to over 200 schools and
12 conference throughout the state of Washington
reaching approximately 400,000 young people!
This program combines valuable information
from national and state anti-drug and alcohol
programs and presents it to teenagers in
a way they can fully understand their personal
role and responsibility in turning the tide
away from drug and alcohol use. Further,
it is designed to install a strong sense
of self worth and motivate them to be leaders
in turning youth away from drugs and alcohol
and associated problems.
