The
Association sponsors Washington State Criminal
Justice Commission courses and seminars annually
for certification of law enforcement officers
to increase their knowledge, upgrade their
skills and abilities, and promote professionalism.
Topics range from specific technical training
subjects to seminars which provide general
information on current law enforcement topics.

to pre-register or send an e-mail
to wslea@wslea.org
and indicate your name, department and
a contact phone number. The Course Registrar
will contact you to complete registration
and confirm your seat in class. Direct department
invoicing is also available. Self-pay students
should pay at the registration desk prior
to course start.
Professional
development courses are held throughout
the state during the year for continuing
education purposes.
The
majority of the courses offered are Criminal
Justice Training Commission Courses
which means that all law enforcement personnel
taking the classes receive full CJTC credits.
While other courses are not specifically
CJTC developed courses, WSLEA does make
every effort to secure credit with the CJTC
so that officers receive maximum benefit
from taking the courses.
Often
times specific Departments will ask for
a course making that Department the sponsor
which in no way obligates the Department
except to say that they are able to determine
what course is run. Two seats are given
to the sponsoring Department and the class
is open to all surrounding Departments as
well.
Cost
for the classes is nominal. All class materials
are included in the tuition. WSLEA members
do receive a tuition break for the course.
To
further enable members to attend professional
development courses, WSLEA has created a
scholarship program whereby any WSLEA member
can apply for funds to cover tuition costs
to attend any CJTC course.
